The club was formed in 1988, known then as ‘KS WIGRY’. A few ‘Poles’ from the Polish community in Willesden Green decided to try their hands at playing volleyball. Although the club did not participate in any league at that time, the team still played friendly matches against other established teams and also entered some tournaments such as ‘Sandwell Volleyball Tournament’ - Europes largest volleyball event at the time but sadly a thing of the past now.
In 1990, the club decided to enter a team into the London League and establish a new setup. As most of the players came from the ‘8th Polish Scout Group’, the club decided on a new name - ‘K S Osemka’, thus encouraging more people from our Polish community to become part of the club.
In doing this, the aim was not only to have a very competitive team, but also to bring together youth and experience to have an established club, which over the next fifteen years was to see not only players of Polish decent join, but players from all over the world including France, Sweden, USA, Canada, Japan and many others.
This season, KS Osemka embark on their twentieth year of competitive volleyball, with founder members, Gabriel and Tad(brothers), being the only two players to have survived the long haul, both playing very active roles in both the running of the club, and on the court.
